Read Email Later

Read Email Later is a service that lets you read your e-mail newsletters on Pocket and your Kobo e-reader. It is created by Frank van Rest to let him read the great (and quite long) e-mails by Stratechery on his Kobo e-reader.

When you connect your Pocket account to Read Email Later we will provide you with a special e-mail address. The content of all e-mails that are sent to this address will be added to your Pocket List. That's it!

Subscription with Free Trial

To pay for servers and my time for maintenance and support, I ask for a small subscription fee of € 2 per month or € 10 per year (ex. VAT). I don't like advertising and I don't want your data. These subscriptions are powered by Stripe and I don't store any personal information myself. You can start a free trial of 30 days and will receive an e-mail to reconsider before the paid subscription will start.

Frequently asked questions

How does this service work?

When you send an e-mail to your special e-mail address, we create an HTML file in a secret (non-guessable) location with the contents of the e-mail. We then add that secret location to your Pocket List.

How can I read these e-mails on my Kobo e-reader?

See Use the Pocket App with your Kobo e-reader.

How can I auto-forward my newsletters to Read Email Later?

Most mail providers offer an option to set this up. See instructions for Gmail and Outlook.

Does Read Email Later support Pocket tags?

Yes, it does! By adding +tag.here_your_tag in front of @reademaillater.com in your special e-mail address the article will be added to Pocket with the here_your_tag tag. For example, abcdefghijklmno+tag.alphabet@reademaillater.com will add the tag alphabet to the article.

Any other tricks?

There is one other trick that you could try. By default, the title of the article in Pocket will be of the format "Sender: Subject". Sometimes the sender is not relevant (for example when you manually forward an email). In that case, you can use +nosender in front of @reademaillater.com in your special e-mail address. The title of the Pocket article will then be just the subject of the email. For example abcdefghijklmno+nosender@reademaillater.com.

How can I manage my Read Email Later subscription?

If you have an active subscription, you can "Connect with Pocket" above to see your special e-mail address and to visit the Customer Portal to manage your payment method and subscription.

Does Read Email Later also work with e-mail newsletters like ...?

We support all kinds of newsletters. Free e-mail newsletters like Benedict Evans Newsletter, theSkimm, or Morning Brew, and paid-for e-mail newsletters like Stratechery, The Dispatch, or Letters from an American.

What e-mail newsletter services do you support?

We support all newsletter services. All of them. So it does not matter whether the newsletter is sent using SubStack, Revue, Patreon, or another service. It always works.

What about the climate?

Good question. Read Email Later will contribute 1% of your purchase to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere. It is not a lot, but it is a start. Learn more.
